Moonset on Balanced Rock
|
Stars slowly drift through this bright blue sky as the shadow of a tall rock wall opposite this scene fills this deep canyon with it's dark
shadow. You can see the sky begin to darken as the bright moon sinks into the west, leaving this scenic rocky canyon profile in stark
silhouette against the clear western Colorado sky.
Location: Colorado National Monument, Colorado.

Perseid Meteors Above Glade Park
|
Several Perseid meteors, along with a few sporadic meteors and aircraft, all put on a show in the night sky above the beautiful high canyon
landscapes of western Colorado's Glade Park. Perseid meteors radiate from a point in the sky that's in the constellation Perseus. The meteors
originate from the debris trail of comet Swift-Tuttle. Each year the orbital path of the comet crosses that of Earth, creating the ever-popular
summertime meteor shower.
Location: Glade Park, Colorado.
